I was so excited when my mom came home with a bag of tree-ripened, hand-picked oranges. Citrus trees produce a lot of fruit, so it’s fairly typical for someone to have way more fruit than they can eat, so they give it away by the bag full! We happened to be the random, lucky recipient’s of a family member’s boyfriend’s sister’s orange tree’s harvest. And I knew exactly what I wanted to do with all of those oranges. Make orange juice.

I didn’t have time to juice the oranges before I left Louisiana, so I took them with me! And I’m really glad I did since the weather here is now absolutely freezing! I will need as much Vitamin C as I can get!

Are you old enough to remember Orange Julius (the precursor to the smoothie), I was just given a box of oranges from a friend’s tree. I think get some powdered sugar and a blender I’ll try to whip up a “Julius”.

I am not! Orange juice + powdered sugar? Sounds dessert-ly 🙂
